“Mercury Forecast Edmonton 2 degrees, Calgary 6 degrees, Mesa 27 degrees”
What can I say today that people would believe but wouldn’t be true. This statement is our reality today in the world of politics. LOL
“Memories”
I remember as a child Mom always trying to fool Dad on April’s Fool Day . There was salt in the sugar bowl for his morning coffee. He had odd sandwiches made.
My secretary, Jennifer Sargeant, gave me a phone message to call this number. I was instructed to ask for Mr Wolfe. The phone rings and it is the Calgary Zoo. The young lady says ” And whom are you asking for ” She got me . Funny !

We got all packed up and only had the golf left to get done. We drove around delivering care food packages to our neighbors otherwise a lot of it is tossed. With the grocery pricing today any good food is appreciated. So food delivered and a quick good bye. If anyone knows Jackie I lied there.
Jackie took Daisy for her morning walk and I started to ready the golf cart which takes a bit. As I always said golf carts are a pain so hopefully this summer my batteries do fine.
I forgot to mention. We were taking down our new privacy exterior curtains. I hear a scream and see Jackie and Daisy running into the house. Two large scorpions fall out of the pleats. These guys were at least 3 inches long which is the largest I have seen. The neighbor had just had his lot sprayed so I am thinking these guys ran for safety. Safety resulted in my size 12 shoe squishing them flat. I am not a fan as after a person is tentative moving a cushion or anything. Only the two were found. It is just odd as we have no crickets which is there food source. We never saw a scorpion at our place for 15 years until last year. We had two dead ones in our house then, now two giant ones outside. Funny to watch though.
On the road. Always a sad day to leave our little paradise we love. It took well over an hour just to leave Phoenix. It is just odd how a 12 lane wide freeway can get so busy. Daisy on this trip today wasn’t the best she has been. Every once in awhile she takes it upon herself to stress for a bit.

We were going back and forth between routes home. Looking ahead it appeared we would be fighting poor weather most of the trip. So, we decided rather than take the mountains thru Flagstaff we would go the Vegas route. Last of March and early April the talk of the park is when you are going home and how. SO MANY people hate Vegas and Salt Lake freeways. I have no issue with them at all and the horrible experiences of others for us was peaceful and entertaining. Some worry about weather so much it causes them stress. As I have said before driving in snow makes it more enjoyable rather than boring. Having said that with up to 8 inches at Flagstaff we choose the much faster route. The trip between Calgary and Mesa is a great drive. Many miles of 150 kph, more at 140 kph and the bulk of them at around 120 kph. Busy highway from Vegas to about Salt Lake every time.

On our trip we experienced wonderful dry roads. We also encountered a hail storm and a few snow storms. There was rain, sleet, and lots of wind. But overall a great drive.

Our first stop was in Washington. We broke our days down this time to about 3 days – 7 hour drives. Holiday Inn Express was first class. This hotel in particular has no close eateries. There is only one bar that is sporadically open. So, we ended up at A & W. Any one that knows Jackie, knows she struggles with getting Hangry. Not a pretty sight so we had to deal with quickly. Another one of “todays” labels.
We took Daisy for a walk but it was cold and very windy as a snow storm was blowing in.

Another 7 hour day driving ending up in Idaho Falls. Mix of every season once again. Nice drive and Daisy relaxed enjoyed the sights ( she loves seeing cows in the pasture)
The Flex has a smaller than normal gas tank so that means more stops. Good though for snacks, drinks , bathroom and Daisy breaks.
The coldest trip by far from Washington when the storms were starting to blow in all the way to Raymond which had 3 inches of snow the morning of our arrival.

At this one station, this guy stops for gas in an old Benz. A pallet is strapped to his roof and trunk through the rear windows. A set of golf clubs and briefcases, etc., are tied on top of it. I have never seen anything like this in my life. Wouldn’t you know it as Jackie was walking Daisy he pulls up to her and is asking for cash. Fool us once but not twice ! LOL
Jackie taking a quick break at Beaver Valley.

We stayed at the Best Western in Idaho Falls tonight. I would say we have stayed there at least 20 times coming and going. Fair pricing, a clean tidy room, and a free breakfast await.
We ordered normal food from a close to Sushi/Wasabi bar and walked to pick it up. Again quite cold out. We have had picnics beside the river here numerous times right in front of the hotel but not this time.
Why am I coming back to hell frozen over again ? Oh ya rules !
At this hotel the free breakfast includes an omelet station that makes them to order. They also offer fried and scrambled eggs. How can you go wrong ?
April 3rd
On the road bright and early as we don’t know how long the wait will be at the border.
Another day of experiencing all seasons. 75 miles per hour to 90 mph ( plus) again was the norm. In some mountain passes I had to be careful as the roads having snow on them it could be icy.
We get to the border and we were the third car in the line up.
Here is where I have an issue with the media. I am all for defunding the CBC. They panicked people we know. This panic caused them to leave early. It led to emotional stress and even prompted some to sell their homes in Arizona. It was like Covid all over again when people were nuts rushing home due to media, family, or innuendo heard.
We were in line no more than 10 minutes with the border guard doing her due diligence and us prior to.
Now one of the best, most memorable experiences of our trip home. After driving for 20 hours at speeds of 70 to 90 mph (120 to 150 kph), and now the highway speed of just 110 kph seemed dead slow. So only a few miles from the border I decided to change my dash board panel over kilometers and set the cruise to 116 kph until I acclimated to the boredom of driving in Alberta.
As I was about to pass a white half ton Ford I had it all done and set it to 116. I pull in over into the right lane and the truck turns on police lights. It is the best ghost car ever. One small antenna on the roof is the indicator. I show Jackie the set speed on my dash and move over to the shoulder wondering why.
The officer comes to my window. He states he is pulling me over for speeding at 133 kph. He clocked me with his rear-facing radar. There is no defense in this case. The only outcome is a guilty verdict. Alternatively, one might ask for leniency and have it reduced by the judge or court officer. In Alberta at 23 kph over it is a $198 dollar fine.
First time ever in my life but the new law is every stop you have to take a breathalyzer. Needless to say zero percentage.
I start my explaining and reasoning with him and kidding about just coming from a country that isn’t friendly and now look me Welcome to Canada. With my explanation I asked for leniency and or no ticket.
He took all of my info and then returned to my window a few minutes later. He matter of fact states he is not going to give me a ticket but it is worth a discussion why I was speeding. A few jokes and a lot of thank you’s.
I can say of the 100 plus speeding tickets I have received this is the first time ever to be let go on the spot. I was impressed.
Much Appreciated !
A quick visit with the Jessica & Penny plus the boys. I will say this their place is a wild one. Kids running, jumping, yelling, singing and dancing. No shortage of noise and action. LOL Peace and quiet and a slow pace does not happen.
Then off to Lethbridge for a ICE CAP and TimBits. Pretty good.
Set the cruise to a cop free safe speed and arrive home.
A nice sleep in our bed which is one good thing. Have I said it is ridiculously cold outside. When Jackie pulled in the Jeep she said the check engine light. Not good as i knew I was past my oil change date as before we left she was gone everyday helping out and I had no chance to get it done. I had asked her to check the oil when she was here and was told it was fine. I went downstairs and checked the dip stick and could see no oil. That is real scary as 10k to fix. Needless to say no sleep. First thing in the morning I went back down. The dip stick hadn’t been all the way down and it was dark as today it had plenty of oil and quite clear even though 2k over my liking. That was a sigh of relief but still a check engine light on. Fuel was full and only a couple of months old so should be no issue so it had to be a sensor hiccup. I disconnected the battery negative post for a few minutes and then re started it up. NO LIGHT and running nicely. I am thinking a fuel supply abundance at start up triggered an oxygen sensor. Went for a drive and everything is perfect.
She is out for her walk and sees our water fountain windmill. I pay a fee for it that is just about equal to other communities having a lake. She is home and resting in her favorite spot. She asks, why did you guys bring me back to this freezing cold tundra? Where are all my friends?

Jackie started washing a huge bundle of clothes from AZ. I am guessing 5 loads or more.
I took it to a car wash and spent a lot of time on it. Looks great then I went to clean the inside and disaster. I have never in my life see so much hair. My rear seat was covered, I spent $9 on the vacuum but it still is a mess. I have to buy a good lint hair remover. I feel sorry for Victoria with this amount of hair. Hazel is the absolute BEST dog but that hair would drive me nuts. It is bad enough the amount of hair Jackie leaves everywhere.
Jackie went grocery shopping and visiting. LOL
I made a wonderful supper of 1 inch thick pork chops, roasted potatoes and roasted carrots. Yummy !
Just one note on the upcoming election. I am really really surprised at our youth, Liberal faithful’s, and union workers mentality in even considering voting for Carney. This should be a simple election with a predictable outcome. We are at risk of destroying Canada for another 4 years and far beyond. If the Conservatives do not win a majority, the recent stock market events will appear minor. These changes will seem like the bunny hill in the mountains compared to the steep slopes ahead. Enough said, as I am beginning to dislike the constant noise around politics here and in the USA.
I just ask for people to do some research. They should not follow like sheep. They should not be swayed by one or two factors.
Thought of the Day
The poll that matters is the one that happens on Election Day.
April 5th
“Mercury Forecast Edmonton 13 degrees, Calgary 16 degrees, Mesa 24 degrees”
Nice temperatures everywhere for early spring.
Nice I had the chance to watch news in bed this morning. Tariff talk is all you hear about. We know the stock market will drop. It will still drop a lot more. We know reciprocal tariffs will happen. What we don’t know is the end of the chaos.
A little history lesson. Last time when the USA introduced tariffs with the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act the USA swiftly faced retaliatory tariffs from other countries. This resulted in a death spiral for international trade and contributed to the economic woes that influenced the beginning of World War II. Tariffs have been a main stay for the USA since the late 1700 so they are not new just not so harsh and damaging with the world working a free trade arena for years.
Sounds just like today. Time will tell how this all plays out.
Jackie had family commitments all day so I worked on getting various things done.
I finished cleaning the Jeep with a lint remover, cleaned the inside windows and touched up the exterior on any missed spots. Waxed the outside.
I whipped to the Depot for a lint remover, a Pure Source 2 water filter and a piece of pipe insulation for the wind deflector. Lo and behold, the check engine light came back on. Another reset but once again no luck. So it will need a service which is hopefully just a C02 sensor. Stupid environmentalists causing chaos for just a little rich running engine. Money in a garage’s pocket. I should just buy a code reader. A sensor is cheap and easy to replace. This is true if you know which one is defective.
I moved the Christmas tree and all of the decorations into our storage locker. Man is that under ground garage a dust generator. I got quite filthy doing this but they are all stored in a dust free environment until next year. I also put the large suitcases away until our next trip in Sept. French Polynesian here we come !
I had to pay a whack of bills today, These continue to grow and never seem to end.
I installed the new filter in the Fridge so I can have nice clean ice.
I went to install my wind deflector foam. However, all of my tools are at Oasis. I will do it out there when I get a chance.
I plugged in all of my cordless tools and golf cart batteries and brought them up to full charge.
LPGA and the Valero Open so I watched a bit of that.
An Oiler team without Mc Cry Baby and Leon should be a loss for them and a must win for the Flames tonight.

The Flames are still mathematically in the playoffs but wins are desperately needed. Our target team is now the Wild. Wild needs to lose and us win with 7 games left and two in hand with a 5 point spread. We need some luck and hard work.
Ripped off with a legit goal called back and fluke goal allowed.
Watching a few reels of drag racing streets cars. I love this.

If anyone ever says you don’t need that much horsepower, drop them as a friend. You don’t need that kind of negativity in your life.

“Mercury Forecast Edmonton 15 degrees, Calgary 19 degrees,, Mesa 25 degrees”
Beautiful day with nice warm temperatures, everywhere.
Jackie had a nice long walk with Daisy today. It was very nice that neither of us had any commitment so we got to sleep in. I watched the news and the Masters chip/drive/putt contest. Amazing with 15 yr olds driving the ball 250 yards. Lots of fun to watch.
It is a shame that Hudson Bay is closing. The last of our “department” stores. Eatons, Sears, Woolworths, Woolco , Woodwards, Target all gone from Canada leaving us with Walmart which is not even close in product lines. Jackie had a gift certificate that expired today so we decided to head out and check out the store.
Jackson was home, stuck with parents so we took him with us. Man has that kid grown up. It is just funny how fast kids mature.
Jackie headed to the Bay while Jackson and I headed to the food court for lunch. His choice was NY Fries. Ok, pricing is high at fast food restaurants but today was nuts. 2 hot dogs, 2 poutine and drinks $40. I guess that is why we do not visit them very often. I should get a steak for $20 not a hot dog. But it was gooood !!
It was a fun outing talking to the kid about school, hockey etc.
The Bay’s shelves are pretty full mostly due to only 20% of the price. I am not sure if they are liquidating or a receiver but soon we should see the 40 to 50% off deals. Most items are overpriced at the Bay for decades ( the reason no one bought there) but take 40% off it maybe a deal. Jackie picked up some sheets for Audrey and Jackson got a 50% off jacket.

A short visit with the Waldies, but as one of them is ill we did not stay. We did get to see the goal that was a record breaker. Ovi versus Wayne. It is unfortunate that a Canadian has lost one important record.
Talking to Mom today she is in pretty rough shape. She was attempting to move a pan she had put down for a leak in her ceiling and fell smacking her head. Luckily she did not break anything but bruising and pain are happening. Observation is needed, so she will be in at least one night.
I left a voice mail message with the GM of Mom’s residence as this is not the first time she has had a leaky roof and there is NO EXCUSE. I presented it as a threat as it had the potential to be a safety issue and it was as, it was the sole reason Mom fell. I wanted to give her time to do some research and then when we meet on Wednesday when I am there she can have confirmed answers for me. I need the fix date and I need the a/c issues remedied. Tanya has been good over the years and I am hopeful she again steps up. Anytime you deal with OLD people, it’s hard to satisfy them. However, in this case, the issues are real. They should have been addressed without my intervention.
Jackie finished our taxes and only has Audrey’s and Mom’s to finish. She is pretty good at them.
Going thru a car wash today I look behind me in the line and it is Jason Cameron’s daughter. Our turn and our code doesn’t work. Jackie gets out and has to walk past the 10 cars behind us to the gas station. Gets there and the doors are locked. The kid had a bathroom break so locked the door. Time wasted. Then he struggled with the how to fix the situation so more time wasted. I wasn’t in the line waiting and I thought it took a long time. Finally success.
I read an interesting article today about health and aging. It made me rethink what a lot of people including myself, have thought about housing as aging happens. Most believe that they should sell their two story homes and move into a bungalow. The article coined a term “bungalow legs.” This was the result of a study. It showed that individuals who used stairs every day drastically slowed the aging process down. I always believed that the market would be flooded with 2 story homes as baby boomers retire. However, after looking at the stats and conclusions of this article, I now understand the opposite to be true. Boomers should keep their 2 story homes and use them as a way to preserve leg function and balance. It doesn’t become exercise but everyday living and working on your well being. Simple walking or cycling spends energy using calories. However, unless biking is vigorous, it does very little to build muscles or strength in your legs compared to stairs.
I know Jackie and I use our three flights of stairs as much as possible. When on a cruise, we use the stairs as an effective weight control means.

“Mercury Forecast Edmonton 16 degrees, Calgary 18 degrees, Mesa 29 degrees”
It is a little deceiving saying it is 18 degrees for Calgary. To me that is a great temperature for golfing. First this year which is pretty early so nice. Ok, it did hit 18 degrees but they forgot to tell us about the 30 kph to 69 kph winds. I would say 50 kph sustained. This makes golfing hard. Every shot requires one or two different clubs. The risk of being blown sideways is also very real.

Having said that, let’s forget about the score. I would say Jeff golfed the best today I have seen him in years. Full of energy, increased club head speed, and moving fast with very little shaking. And very good ball contact and some super drives.
If the wind hadn’t been such a factor he also would have scored great. My score also was drastically higher being the third highest score in the last 5 years. Wind causes chaos.
On the last hole Jeff went in the bush a short distance and had to recover his ball. Then he goes to putt and we notice he is completely covered in burrs. Everywhere and stuck hard into his clothes.

But most importantly we had a blast golfing today. It was a lot of fun.
After golf we met Jeff & Wendy at the Rockwell and had their steak sandwich special. This special is delicious. Delicious and a sweet deal. Amazing deal really. I also managed to have one kiddy size Caesar and two adult Caesars. The drinks were good, but they weren’t up to a Keg Caesar. However, after 5 months in the USA without getting one they were pretty special.
Nice to catch up on things.
Jeff after having a chemical peel on his face I would say looks 5 yrs younger. Combine this with his energy revitalization and and he is a new man. I get to tease him. Although his procedure was medical, it is also a beauty treatment to look younger. This treatment is popular among lots of Hollywood stars. Over the years, Jeff has experienced many different procedures. He has been subjected to pedicures, manicures, foot and back massages, and chiropractic manipulations. He could be a metro man. A revitalized versions which is awesome.
Needless to sat a very fun outing all day and evening.

“Mercury Forecast Edmonton 12 degrees, Calgary 11 degrees, Mesa 33 degrees”
This why I would like to stay in Mesa until at least the 15th. the coolest day this week is 33 degrees, so it is one wonderful week.
Up early this morning to get the Flex in for service. It isn’t funny how expensive vehicles are to maintain. $1100 bucks for just a few items to repair, replace or service. Plus the Jeep in also for it’s service.
What I really dislike is the amount of miles we put on. More miles more costs, In the 5 years we have had the Flex we have put on over 80K kms. That is 16k per year and that is only on the Flex. We put another 15 k on the Jeep. That is 31K km per year. Plus the kilometers on the motorhome. Every 5 years over 100 k which means new tires, multiple service and the odd repair. It also means replacing a car much quicker than I had planned. Give me a 350 Chevy with a carb and distributor and no problem but with the electronics of today it is not good.
Daisy, Hazel and Tor, Jackie and I had a blast at the dog park this morning. The dogs got a lot of running around which is great and fun for them.
April 9th–11th
“ Mercury Forecast Edmonton 17 degrees, Calgary 17 degrees, Mesa 37 degrees,”
Nice weather everywhere but I will say I prefer the Mesa temps over Calgary’s any day.
I had the call from my shop and the oil cooler sensor was the issue. With the few other repairs I wanted another $1000 bill. Having said that it is only one to two months payment of a new car so I am ok with it.
A nice easy drive up the QE 2 today with very little traffic. I have driven this highway so many times i just about know where pot hole is and every cop hiding.
Today was Mom’s 93rd birthday. She never thought she would last this long but really is not happy it happened. She had great health up to about 86 yrs old then has struggled with issue after issue and today simply tasks are monumental for her. It is shame as overall her brain is still working fine except for the drastic change in temperament.
I had emailed the GM of her place to go over a few issues a few days ago and then stopped in to talk to her when we arrived. I have to say I was impressed with her. Mom had another roof leak that dripped and when she placed a pan to catch it she took a mean fall that resulted in her being hospitalized and luckily only body bruising but dangerous. She also has a a/c unit issue .
Incompetence appears to be rampant in our new world. Training, caring and pride of workmanship extinct. Screwing on a vent panel without aligning it is a sign of a rush job. To leave exposed electrical marottes is shoddy work and a potential risk hazard and against any municipalities building code.

Tanya was very good at addressing the issues , providing time lines and even dropped by later in the afternoon to see Mom and check up on things.

it was a very nice visit concluding with a wonderful lasagna supper.
Off to pick up the Jeep this morning. I had a few things done that were needed and the bill rang in at $1000. All good .
Went outside and started it and check engine light on. I really like this shop but as with anything issues sometimes pop up. The difficulty and potential major engine work required is out of their scope. They reduced the bill in lieu of but it just baffles me how a mechanic can call themselves a professional when a oil pump or a solenoid that requires a lot of work and difficult labor they feel they can’t do and turn the vehicle back to you. I now have to use the crooked dealer network and am looking at a bill from $500 to $3000. Give me a old school 350 Chev and I could replace the pump in an hour for $100. I was trying to keep expenses down with the TSX market and a huge cruise bill coming up but getting bit again. LOL
Jackie got most of the taxes done which is nice. She does my Mom’s and hers also so will complete those also.
We have lunch booked with a couple of old friends. They are the perfect example of live for today as at 63 yrs old Joe is not doing well and with a poor long term prognosis. It will be good to see them again.
Oh darn, it was one of those bad days and not well enough for a visit. Hoping in the near future.
Thought of the Day
You know once you are retired you never get a day off.
April 4th
“Mercury Forecast Edmonton 10 degrees, Calgary 9 degrees ( rain& snow) , Mesa 37 degrees”
I look at that Mesa temperature and ask. Why am I here again. I woke up with a cold this morning. This is a rarity and oddity for me and would NEVER have happened is I was in a warm climate.
And look at this. A full blown blizzard with the snow getting bigger and bigger. NO ONE can say this look beautiful. lol

A good time for doing inside stuff.
Jackie finished off taxes as best as she could, plus did a huge amount of house cleaning.
I had three months worth of budgets to do so that took the bulk of the day. They are ugly as things with the exchange and lifestyle are hitting the numbers. How 2 people can spend over $1200 a month in groceries is just sick. Paying golf fees for commitments over the summer of $4800 in one month is a big bill.
If they stock market would stay strong no issue but with the current market we will need to be careful this year in particular.
I am glad we pulled out our money for the fall cruise trip before any dropping.
Here is Canada with my prepaid golf, our VIP discount and the pricing our monthly bill will be a lot less. Problem is auto gas goes from $200 a month to $800 a month just like that.
On the bright side Jackie received the go ahead to work part time a bit for awhile which is nice.
Budgets don’t balance themselves ( as per Trudeau) so I like to see where the money is going and if possible how to manage it.
A real fun day watching the Masters. What I really like is that of the top 4 on the leaderboard TWO of them are LIV players. Quite a swipe at the PGA. What I don’t care for is the little leprechaun of golf leading right now. Two eagles Darn. My hope is Connors or my favorite player Bryson wins tomorrow with Rory blowing up. It is a great tournament and I couldn’t even tell that Amanda is smitten with Rory. NOT ! His lead is a lot to overcome but one bad shot and panic or fear and Bryson can catch up. Plus there may be tension between the two with the loud mouthpiece PGA player and Bryson who could be worlds number one if he played under the world golf ratings having to pay together.

Sports—
First Rory pulled it off. A very exciting game to watch with multiple leaderboard changes. My emotions were high when Justin sinks the putt for a long birdie to tie. Then Rory has a couple shots and has a 4 ft birdie putt for the win. He misses it and emotions are high again as the playoff will happen. Second shot of Justin’s was fantastic leaving about a 8 ft putt for birdie. Rory the has a miracle shot leaving him 2ft away for a birdie. Justin misses so now the only hope is a miss by Rory, which didn.t happen. Great game wrong winner but fun to watch.
And the Academy Award goes to the little leprechaun from Ireland for a performance like no other after winning. Some softy weak woke people may fall for this as being genuine. Far from it but it will heal a few peoples hurt feeling over Rory’s attitude and attacks against LIV.
It was a well deserved win, awesome for him to be grouped as only the 6th player ever to get a grand slam so kudo’s to Rory.
Calgary Flames played an awesome game. It is down to the last one or two games per team. We have one game in hand but are 4 points behind. A loss by the Blues and two wins for us we are in. Odds pretty high but we still have hope.
Met Tor & Hazel at the dog park for a nice walk around and in fact a couple of loops. A cool day with the breeze but pleasant but it did mean my Alaska jacket was on. The dogs love this place and they get very happy running around.
I spent some time in the gym today, Not so much for cardio but for strength training. In fact after i left the weight and went upstairs to pour a water my hand was shaking like mad. It is good to stretch the muscles. The test will be tomorrow and any stiffness so I know what the next workout can be about. Arms, legs and chest so no spared part.
I have said this forever. No owner, buyer, of anything that requires work on it should be allowed to inspect during the process. The layman individual seeing a project 1/4 to 1/2 done has no idea of the final result. Ie looking at a bookcase or library panel before it is sanded filled and caulked. There is a dramatic difference seeing the final product. The reason I bring this up today is they are fixing Mom’s a/c unit and had to cut a new hole in the drywall. Without the filler, caulk or painting a layman has no clue to what it will look like. Mom wasn’t happy with the job but it is only 1/2 done. Drives me crazy first to complain about having the job done and second to complain before it is even finished. No contractor is going to be pleased having a critique before done and in some cases the job may not get done correctly out of spite.

It will be interesting to see what method they use here. Picture number one is an easy fix with a drywall patch, ,fill, sand and paint or a simple picture frame molding around it.. Nothing wrong or odd here. Picture number two is odd though. At the moment and from the pic I do not know what the solution would be. This one could be an issue that we will deal with when they say it is done. Not before.
They used an vent extension kit which as of now looks like it is 1 inch too wide. Was the wrong one ordered ? Is there a splice system to cover the joining ? My first thoughts would be to cut the plenum in the back and rivet or screw together so the sizing is correct and caulk or build a drywall bulkhead around it tight and caulk Time will tell on this one.
It is like a switch turns on after lets say 75 years old where the only subject of conversation is about the weather and personal health plus the complaint module of their brain is turned on high over anything. Complaining becomes the daily norm and in a lot of cases they don’t even realize it. Research has shown that expressing negativity not only has consequence’s for your personal and mental well being. but affects other around you also. Recent research shows that the act of complaining goes beyond simply releasing frustration; it can actually rewire the brain, making negativity a default setting and even setting the stage for prolonged feelings of sadness and depression.
It is a pretty simple thing to get up in the morning and say to yourself, ” I am going to have a great day” and then follow it thru.
Now the biggest game of the year for the Flames is tomorrow for us to beat the Knights and very good team and for the Blues to lose. We will see.
This Daisy’s happy spot. She will spend hours watching the cars, people walk by with dogs or kids playing. She has learned to be quiet most of the time.lol

Up this morning and heading to North Calgary. To be specific the North Hill Mall which by rights should be demolished, torn down, as it is an embarrassment to the city. The north part of the city has a couple of rough areas in it as it is the older part of the city.
We used our GPS to get there and on arrival ( you have arrived says the nav system) we look around and smile as there is no indication of where it might be. We walk around the delipidated mall and see one medical section. Wrong number. We walk back and around and see another medical office entrance and yahoo on the board is my doctor.
Jackie came with me for the consult. This is a referral appointment I have been waiting for the last two years. We walk in and I have to say Jackie & I had quite a laugh. At a urologist the expectation was a bunch of old men and ladies in diapers. There had to be 10 kids all young boys with their Moms. I got up and checked the entrance door to see what kind of clinic we were at. It was my place. LOL I can not figure out how so many young boys, one young girl have so many issues.
Even the decor was like it was a kids office. I said to Jackie if he asks to see my pee-pee I am going to hit him. Made us have a good laugh. Nice chew chew train. LOL

There was a blip in the transfer of referrals experienced and some were lost in the system. But finally done and surgery is set for April 2026. We may need to come home earlier than we like depending on the date but recovery is two weeks anyways so the weather won’t matter.
A “cool” doctor vibe and nice guy and his operating privileges are at the High River Hospital so a little drive for the day. Jackie better not hit any bumps on the way home.
I am very good at handling self induced pain but being cut open and material being removed can be a little painful. T3’s hopefully for a few days.
Gorgeous day and too bad we didn’t golf but we didn’t know what or how long this appointment would take. Then the weather is getting colder, great ! But Jeff & I no matter what are golfing on Thursday and meeting the girls after at a bar to watch the most important game of the season. I just want the Flames to make the post season. It is just a shame to be just behind the Oilers, 7 point spread with one game in hand so a possible 5 point spread and not make the playoffs. We had 14 OT losses which if we would have won we would be ahead of Edmonton. They only have 5 OT losses due to Mc David and Leon. We don’t have a natural goal scorer. Looking forward to the golf and game.
With appointment etc I haven’t even being out to the lot as yet.
The Flames win but our luck ran out with the Blues and the Wild winning so with one game left we did not make the playoffs. The Blues 12 game win streak and our 14 OT losses killed us.
I guess I have to watch the 4 games that the Oilers will be in the playoffs.

Good Friday is the Christian day to commemorate the crucifixion and death of Jesus
This usually means a day of fasting and penance so maybe when our guests arrive I will state sorry no food.
On Thursday it was a lot cooler than the Friday temp I listed above with it only hitting 7 degrees and wind with the odd snow pellet. But Jeff & I had committed to golfing so off to McKenzie we head. I had my pocket warmers, a togue and a couple of layers and I will say it was not bad at all.
Playing in cooler temps, extra clothes and windy can cause issues. I will start by saying just like last week Jeff is a new man golfing. He is getting great distance with his drives and awesome second and third shots. His swing speed and even his walking pace is like Jeff is 5 years younger. Needless to say he golfed quite well . With the factors though and the odd mistake the score was higher but not due to golfing bad just the circumstances. I did not take any muscle relaxers at all and I felt fine. Again a low 80’s score that if only putts would have dropped would have been nice. The course is in excellent shape but the greens are slower and I kept coming up just short.
We had a blast and finished exactly in three hours which is amazing. The course was relatively empty.
After golfed I had Jackie whip me to Tower and picked up the Jeep. I thought about 2.5K for the work but it ended up 3K. Over 2k worth of labor removing intakes and oil pan.
All set for another journey, I have one small issue I have to watch but as it was over 1k to repair I left it for now and will watch it.
Then off to the bar to watch the Flames. Another great game and our new comers are going to help the team next year. It is shame not to make the playoffs. We are tied for a playoff spot but due to wins we lost. Too many OT losses at 14. If we would have converted those we would be ahead of Edmonton. We needed one goal scorer to help out.

A very good season and we are very close to being a very good team. Next year which I hate to say but it is true.
Now for a Canadian team to win the cup. It will sort of make us Canadians feel good beating the USA again. I don’t care which team but would prefer Edmonton or Toronto.
Off to the Depot today for a new toilet seat as our old one snapped and we have company coming. I smiled when I saw the bidet models as I refuse to get one of these. They are dumb, inefficient and dangerous. When ever you have another water line connection the risk of a leak increases exponentially. It is not worth it. They make toilet paper for a reason.
Jackie is busy making food this morning and I throw in my help where needed. Bacon in the oven, potatoes on the stove, potato salad dressing on the stove and all of the cutting of the veggies to go with it. Only the odd cut to the finger so a good morning.
Warm enough to have had it at the lot but no time to get the place ready with the constant cold weather. I see even next week is poor.
The two of us worked together most of the morning with the bulk of the work load on Jackie this time. With the busyness though we did forget to put the fries in the oven and cut the tomatoes. We had plenty of condiments and salads that it didn’t really matter though.
We decided not to go traditional turkey and went with hamburgers and chicken breast with potato salad along with Spinach salad. Blueberry cheesecake to finish. If I have to say so myself everything tasted wonderful.
We had a nice sized gathering with Audrey, August, Atticus, Alan, Jackson Jessica, Jackie ,Justin, Corey MaryAnn, Penny Danielle, and I. Daisy and Tia loved all of the attention and right now she is dead tired with no sleep all day.

A nice fun family gathering.

A day tomorrow to get a few things done then up to Edmonton for another family gathering.

It has been a COLD April since arriving home. Not nice with today snow and rain again.
A nice drive up to Edmonton for Easter. We picked up Corey, Jackson and Hazel for the drive as Tor was working.
We picked up Mom as our car is a lower easier one to slide into. She is continuing to get weaker as time is going on. She is 93 yrs old. It is amazing how much she has shrunk.
We had our gathering at Kayla’s place which is nice with yard and inside space plus minimal steps for Mom.
Darlene as usual put out an amazing meal. She makes a Easter dinner like no other. Love the food.
Not easy with a large group as we had 21 people this time.

What a wonderful meal . Fun gathering seeing everyone.
Rain and snow today so paying some bills and doing various banking tasks. Too cold and too wet to go out to the lot. Jackie is heading out for a lunch appointment.

Spring has been VERY late coming this year. In fact I have yet to be out at the lot with commitments and weather.
Today the temperature only hit 8 degrees. No wind which was nice. Today after a little confusion as the snow didn’t melt quick enough the course Jeff & I booked was closed. We scrambled and found a spot at McKenzie. We were hooked up with a young lad that was a postal worker. The weather even though cold was not that bad as we were layered up. We could see a few fronts heading our way but luckily they all stayed away until the 18th hole where it started to snow and the temperature dropped dramatically.
Another wonderful fun day golfing. Once again I see a huge difference in Jeff’s play and while the score wasn’t great the play was pretty good and very good in a lot of cases. His distance now is excellent and drives overall very good. The score crept up with putting and the wayward chip/shank shots. It is nice to see him play so well. I golfed pretty decent with 13 pars but took a 10 ( 5 over par) on the first hole with sand trouble and a 3 over par on the third hole with balls heading to the river. Then things went very well except for having at least 6 or more short birdie putts and not getting any of them.
A nice relaxing supper in the clubhouse solving the world problems and watching hockey so a ending to a very enjoyable day.
Still can’t kick my snotty nose which I have had for at least a week or more.
Up this morning with the sun for a dentist appointment. I hate these things. The picking, scrapping and fluoride that turns your stomach. is just not fun. I am writing this with a sore mouth after a hour long of picking. Most likely done in 20 minutes but they have to work for an hour no matter what, for billing.
I am running short of blood pressure pills and booked my blood work for Monday. I wanted to wait until no cold but can’t. Another dumb thing having to fast for 12 hours and you can’t get an appointment before noon as everyone is in the same boat. Make a different test or having a sliding scale for the time. Dumb ! So I will need to beg for pills from my pharmacist to hold me off until I get a doctor appointment. The system just isn’t set up for ease of use.
I had a call this morning from my Mom. Old people !! She has a vent from the a/c heat pump into her bedroom and she is complaining about the hot air being blown in. TURN DOWN THE FURNACE at night and it is fixed ! She will be happy , maybe not, when the cold air comes in with the a/c in the summer. Life is too short to be worried about such minor things.
There is a connection between mindset and physical health. Negativity and personal beliefs about aging, pains, circumstances, money etc can be a self-fulfilling prophesy while positive thoughts and beliefs can prompt you to form and keep good longevity habits. To put it simple, taking on new challenges, figuring how to cope with the ups and downs of life , having a positive outlook will help you stay healthier, happier longer.
It is easy to get caught in a trap of asking for help instead of figuring out someway to make it work for yourself. There is always more than one way to skin a cat and it should be incumbent on each of us to find a way.
You fall down the stairs, instead of getting upset, just say to yourself. Wow that is the fastest I have moved in years.

As this covers three days our weather was very very different each day. Thursday was cooler, Friday hit 18 degrees but very windy and today 22 degrees with no wind and wonderful sunshine.
Thursday Jessica arrives with Attu and August, They are getting to a very nice age now where they are very well behaved. Jessica had office work to do so the kids played various different games.
Early afternoon we decided to head the movie house. Seton theatre is awesome with its leather reclining seats. August loved them. First stop was payment. I was pleasantly surprised as the ticket pricing for kids and Seniors is reasonable. Then you add the pop and popcorn it watch it get ridiculous. $148 bucks to see a movie. Now you HAVE to have popcorn.
The kids picked MIneCraft. Let me say I give this movie a 9 out of 10. It was hilarious, The characters were awesome with Jack Black and Jason Momoa as the main ones. Lots of inuendo , hilarious one liners, and just a cool script. Well done show.
Funny as we all had to go the bathroom after having a large drink and Atti was upset he missed one part. Free refills which is great.

It was pretty easy making them supper as they were full.
In the morning having three different sleep areas , Jess in the spare room, Auggie on the queen mattress and Atti on a yoga mat we said goodbye as we were golfing with Jeff & Wendy. They were hanging out while Jess worked and then visiting with Tor.
Our golf game was at Murfield. I really like this course and typically as it is a little shorter than average have great scores. The ladies played very well and I thought Jeff overall did great. BUT we were extremely hampered by excessive winds all day. I would say at least 40 kph. Needless to say that is difficult to play in so we struggled a bit. Having said that though we had a blast and it was a fun day golfing. I did notice a lot of limping which is not good. We also had Daisy join us today for our golf and she was exceptional.
After golf we whipped home and changed and drove over to Boston Pizza. As you know as a family from the time the girls were 8 to about 22 we had Boston Pizza every Friday night. It became like a tradition. We all still like Boston. Tonight we had our whole family together. Victoria, Corey, Penny ,Jessica, Jackson, August, Atticus , Jackie and I.

As usual the food was perfect with each person having some interesting choices.
At the end of the meal a big surprise as our kids paid for our meals. Just to have the opportunity to have everyone together I don’t mind paying for everyone but this tonight was very much appreciated. It had to be a pretty big chunk of change. Thanks you Tor, Cor Jess and Pen.
Returned home and turned on the Oilers. I will say this. The coach of the Kings is just stupid man no other word for it. 4 minutes left and a controversial goal scored on LA that went to a review and it was called a goal. Then the coach uses his challenge after seeing the footage, having the review and calls it. DUH penalty for the Kings and sure enough the Oilers score. The Kings coach gave them the game. As bad as Smith scoring on Fuhr. A good game and the Oilers won so most are happy. The next game is the critical game for a win and should be a good one.
I had a interaction with an old friend and former employee on Facebook and I was in disbelieve that he was a Carney supporter. I do not do “political” on Facebook as it is meant as a social interaction media not a propaganda machine. One issue is as time has passed people are now more sensitive about politics than even religion. So many people have no idea on how to approach a different view and debate it instead of getting angry and vile so quickly. Now, I know of relatives and close friends that have voted opposite of my way of thinking, Never mind a Liberal vote but to go NDP was disappointing. All I will say is, they did not do their due diligence and were influenced by media, unions, friends or family instead of looking deep into the issues. Small likes of segments of any platforms are vote getter gimmicks. Look at it in its entirety. I personally believe not only for Canada today ( tariffs, taxes, debt load , pipelines) but for Canada and our kids future you have to vote Conservative party.
No matter who wins we must do better.
Jackie and I headed out to Oasis this morning, 22 above and beautiful out. This is our first time there this year as we have only been home two weeks and very busy with scheduled things. It was wonderful to see so many neighbors out starting to get their units ready for the summer.
Lots of plant trimming, raking and bagging of leaves. I believe we got 10 bags done today and a few more to be done. I am going to do our neighbors also which will be another 10 bags. I was very happy that every plant is budding already. Including my nemesis, my Clematis.
I hooked up my batteries both for the chassis and coach. These batteries are 10 years old and test 100 %. Between my solar panel charging all winter and tender on the motor battery they are excellent. It fired right up and then I started up the Genset. Nice and easy. Next time I will start the summerizing. I didn’t bring any bleach today! I bleach the entire system, lines, and tank.
A full day yard cleaning and prepping. A fun day. At least a 1000 calorie expended day

Weather is supposed to turn tomorrow. I may go out and do a few things if it is not the 7 degrees, predicated.
I have to remember to eat supper at 11pm tomorrow for my blood work at 11am on Monday. !!!

I think the trick to eating healthy is not eating any food that has a TV commercial. ?

Spring will be coming so I decided not to go out to the lot today. Jackie was busy shopping for us and with her Mom so she was busy all day.
I headed to Shoppers and had an excellent result getting 30 days from the pharmacist without a prescription. Awesome ! If I had known the flexibility this time I would have booked a different time for blood work. Oh well having to eat at 11pm and no breakfast won’t be that bad.
I whipped to the Depot and got a few things I need for the lot. Expensive !
I will watch the gardening section so I can get a early pick of some of the flowering perennial’s I want to add like Fire Witch Dianthus, Sprite Astilbe, and Bee Balm.
I am thinking about adding two garden raised beds behind the motorhome for veggies.
I will clean the neighbors lot , and summerize the motorhome the next trip. I will use my bleach and let it sit in the system for a few hours before draining.
Man is it cold outside !
Every series this year is a tight one. Tonight’s Oilers game should be a good one.

I had a small snack at 11:30 after the game as I had to fast for blood work and couldn’t eat again until after noon.
The game- Has ANYONE else noticed what I am about to point out. I believe there is an unspoken, unwritten agreement with the NHL teams and powers to be for the Oiler series to go to seven games. NO coach EVER would CHALLENGE after a REVIEW with minutes left in game knowing a penalty will be called and the opposing team would win. Yet it was done with probably 100 million to One chances of anyone doing it and I am sure the Edmonton fan base while ecstatic won’t think about the why it happened. Now last nights game. Did no one notice that the Oilers did not play well at all in the first two periods and then the Kings started to lay back to center or even the blue line and allowed the Oilers to attempt to score in a “disguised” attempt to prolong the series. It is blatantly obvious yet subtle. The Kings were playing hockey but were not putting any effort into it. It was not due to the Oilers playing well. Just saying. What I do like is more hockey games and now a best of 3 series. LOL
Busy morning. I had an issue with my membership and the webpage at Turner Valley Golf club I phoned and emailed to see about getting fixed. Hopefully it will be done before my Thursday game. The new GM this year was promoted from the pro-shop. This gentleman and I didn’t start off well. I became a member in 2010 and when retired in 2014 started to go out quite often. I joined the men’s league which he was running. As a new guy he put my not within the time frame of tee times of the group but two tee times later with two old farts not in the league. Everyone makes mistakes I say. Next week he put me with after the group again with three ladies. Two mistakes especially with a new member you are out in my books. The third week and gesture on my part he screwed up again. I did not play that day and demanded my money back and wrote a letter to the board on the competence. Luckily a board member invited me into his group and played for the last 11 years with Phil’s Snips.
The issue today which he has to fix is my handicap scoring required for the Snip game is gone, my name is not in the member registry or in the booking system. I am playing there on Thursday and am hoping for a fix before that. I hope he regains my confidence by phoning me or emailing his fix and a sorry. Time will tell. I have a knack for recognizing talent and a trust in a pick for a particular job and I will say he would bt far not be my first choice in this position. I am hoping I am wrong.
As I said doing a lot of stuff before leaving to lab for blood work.
I triple checked the weather and decided to cancel tomorrows golf. 11 degrees only, 63 percent chance of rain, and winds from 20 to 40 kph. No thanks. VIP golf is great but cancelling can be cumbersome. I cancelled the VIP commitment and phoned the course to cancel the tee times. The weather is supposed to be good on Wednesday so I searched for a course near as Jackie has an appointment at 1pm. Three courses later i found a tee that will work, not perfect but will work, so I booked it and then booked thru my VIP. Takes a bit of juggling.
Jeff booked a tee for us on Friday with the perfect course with perfect weather. I smiled as I see the struggle to get it right, But all done, excellent.
Our Visa was billed today for our cruise in Sept. Man is that a big bill. But it is a special cruise with it being Jackie’s 65th birthday and our 45th wedding anniversary this year. We could have taken two trips for the price of this one but I am looking very much forward to it. Alan & MaryAnn are travelling with us this time which are easy people to travel with as we did our Europe trip with them.
I had a wonderful Somalian lady take my blood today. I teased her about her English accent. Turns out she speak four languages. Wow no wonder she has an accent. And she did a fast great job.
As I was in the area I stopped by the Cedar Shop. I thought who better than a cedar expert to give me advise on stain. Fred and i did our decks 8 years ago now. We had and oil base stain SuperDek which was awesome. On a recoat the environmentalists’ got a hold them and they destroyed the formula and destroyed the performance by going water based. 4 to 5 years first coat and then a coat every year after due to a shit product. The Cedar Shop expert helped and I loved his knowledge. I have a SICO product that is OIL based and he said will perform fantastic. BUT at $89 a gallon. WOW. I need to sand down to bare wood and then I will be set. I am looking forward to this being done. Green people !!
On the way home stopped at Woodys and picked up a tube of Dicor to install my new ladder support. $22 a tube. WOW I checked out a few RV’s in the showroom and teh pricing has gone insane. A 5th wheel at 186K in there along with a pull trailer at 68K. That is nuts. Pretty nice inside though. I thought it would be interesting to see the value of our motorhome in todays dollars so I looked it up and calculated it at $ 337K . Not in my wheel house for a rapidly depreciating asset.
Too late to head to the lot so I will head early tomorrow to dump leaf bags and get the lot beside us done.
The election is here. Who ever wins I hope they help us. I sure hope the Conservatives pull it off but it is not looking good with Ontario. With the population density of Ontario even if all of the Western Canada seats were won by PP and Ont voted Liberal it would be 122 seats to 108. Hard to win an election with two huge blocks of people.
I will say this I am surprised Carney who will be a disaster for us, is even close never mind looking like he is winning. The Bloc, Green and especially the NDP blow up isn’t helping PP at all. I don’t think the NDP will even get opposition status with the stunt that Singh pulled on Canada.
It will be interesting and boring as the hours go by.

“Mercury Forecast Edmonton 15 degrees, Calgary 13 degrees rain wind, Mesa 29 degrees”
Lots going on.
First thing talk about the weathermen lying. I cancelled a tee time today as it was supposed to be 12 degrees, with rain and wind. I am writing this at 5:30 and the adverse weather is just starting. The weather people were SO WRONG. It was absolutely beautiful at 16 degrees and sunny with ni wind at the lot until I got home and it is just starting. In hindsight we could have played but the last 5 or so holes would have been nasty so perhaps a good thing.
ELECTION- I will say that I am disappointed. Not surprised but disappointed. It came down to a couple things. Timing is always important. PP would have won easily and perhaps a majority of Trudeau was the leader. The NDP propped him up until the end and it came back to bite Singh with him losing his seat. Then Carney steps in and the polls get closer. But the kicker was Trump and the tariffs. He was the catalysis of a Liberal gain. Pierre losing his seat is really too bad as he is good. 20 yrs plus in the same district sometimes can result in a negative event. I don’t think staying on is a good thing and he would have to wait for a by election. One thing the Conservative party does is change leaders too often though. McKay 7 months, Ambrose 2 yrs, Scheer 3 years, O’toole 18 months, Bergen 8 months, Poilievre 2 1/2 years. It needs to have a consistent message and familiarity.
I do not dislike Carney compared to Trudeau but I hate his green, net zero anti gas ideology. I just hope he attempts to help Alberta.
I came home tonight dead tired. I worked from 10am to 4 pm steady without a break. I loaded the rear of my Jeep and my cargo rack piled high and took a load to the dump.
I then started to summerize and a simple process again made me smile as it got complicated. I clear the lines of antifreeze which I normally let it run for about an hour. I then fill the garden hose with Bleach and run all of the taps. I then use the pickup hose and put about a cup of bleach into the tank and then fill it. I leave it sit for about two hours and then use the pump and run every tap. Next is runni9ng water for about another two hours to clear everything.
BUT when I got everything hooked up and started I couldn’t figure what was happening when it wasn’t working. Turns out the water had just shut down. This took about a hour to get up and running as the water lines underground were still froze. FINALLY working and got it all done. It does mean an huge amount of up and down back and forth.
While the water was clearing or filling I was raking the neighbors yard. I thought I had a lot of leaves this was more. I raked and filled 10 bags and am only half done. Now that is a lot of up and down. The neighbor lady Bev brought over the neatest tool for picking up leaves and it worked perfect !! I have three large piles still as i ran out of bags.

A good day, a fun day, a warm day when it was not meant to be and I feel cheated by the weatherman.

Finally a supposed nice day. I will say nice but near the temps they predicted. Again !
Jackie was busy with her Mom in the morning/ early afternoon and then right after the clinic visit she picked me up and dropped off Daisy and Audrey and we headed to River’s Edge Golf course.
Jeff & I used to play this course every week and Jackie & Wendy along with Victoria used to play in a ladies group. In fact Wendy won an expensive driver here.
I like the course, it has some tricky tough holes and is a fun course. I played whites today as the yardage is longer than most courses. The course was in great shape and the greens in spectacular shape. The fastest greens we have played which caused us all some putting issues. Getting pars today was just hard. Every one played quite well.
Then we get to hole # 16 which has a washroom. Jeff and I are standing on the tee box watching the girls when Jackie comes out of the washroom. Wham she falls right down. Luckily she did not hit her head but I thought for sure her knee would be hit. We all ran towards her to check her out as she didn’t stand up right away.
She cut her hands, scraped her arms and twisted her ankle. You really can’t tell how bad for a bit or the next day when it goes black or yellow. We got her loaded up and she just sat for the last few holes.
Why. Jackie has a way too dark of sunglasses and feels she needs them to protect her eyes. Numerous times they have caused issues but this time were the part cause of a dangerous fall. Not being able to see was part of it but the step out of the washroom was at least 8 to 12 inches which is just wrong as that height fools everyone.
It is sprained bad when we got home.
Thought of the Day
I am sure she will say she didn’t fall, she just thought the ground needed a hug.
